Let’s celebrate neurodiversity through the Arts 2026

21st Apr 2026

We had our annual neurodiversity & inclusion celebrations last week, ending in our annual inclusion assembly  on Friday (24th) when everyone dressed up in anything they wished, to represent their individuality. All funds raised go towards a SEN project and/ or SEN charity, as will be chosen by the student council.

This week coincided with World Autism Month and a designated United Nations Day of Observance. We are an inclusive school and support differences in all its forms.
Children learned about the meaning of neurodiversity and how our amazing brains all work differently resulting in our experiences of the world differing also.  We read about various people who have very special talents as well as additional needs such as autism, ADHD etc. and how they used their strengths in the area of the Arts. We discussed how we can understand others who are different to ourselves and support  each other in our daily lives.

As we again linked in with our Creative schools initiative, we had a week of very special  art, music, drama and SPHE lessons.  A huge thanks to the TY students who came from @lusk_community_college to help us in our endeavors. A special mention to the 2nd classes for recording a music video to our chosen song this year, and they even made the props! What a talented bunch! A huge thanks to Ms Behan and Ms Price for taking care of the technical side of this production!

Please check our website for photos and search 'inclusion' for previous inclusion assemblies from years gone by. It’s always a memorable week.
